The Bridge Chamber.

By Road

If approaching the Medway Towns from the east, leave the M2 at Junction 3 and take the A229 north toward Rochester and Chatham. Continue along the Maidstone Road and City Way, following the signs for the A229 and Historic Rochester. At the roundabout at the top of Star Hill, where the A229 joins the A2, take the first left and follow the A2 north and west down Star Hill and along Corporation Street. At the traffic lights immediately before Rochester Bridge, turn left onto the Esplanade. The Bridge Chamber is Number 5.

If approaching the Medway Towns from the south, take the A229 up Blue Bell Hill and continue along the Maidstone Road and City Way, following the signs for the A229 and Historic Rochester. At the roundabout at the top of Star Hill, where the A229 joins the A2, take the first left and follow the A2 north and west down Star Hill and along Corporation Street. At the traffic lights immediately before Rochester Bridge, turn left onto the Esplanade. The Bridge Chamber is Number 5.

If approaching the Medway Towns from the west, stay on the A2, when the A2 and M2 diverge, and continue along Watling Street and the London Road through Strood, following the signs for the A2 and Historic Rochester. As you cross Rochester Bridge, get into the righthand lane and turn right onto the Esplanade at the traffic lights at the eastern end of the bridge. The Bridge Chamber is Number 5.

Parking

The Bridge Chamber, Number 5 Esplanade, is on the corner of the Esplanade and Castle Hill. There is some car parking available immediately opposite the Bridge Chamber and additional parking further along the Esplanade. If you are attending the Bridge Chamber on official business, the Bridge Chamber Caretaker will give you a parking permit for car parking opposite the Bridge Chamber

 

 

 

By Rail

The nearest rail stations to the Bridge Chamber are Strood and Rochester. The Southeastern service from London St. Pancras to Faversham calls at Strood, the Southeastern service from London Victoria to Gillingham calls at both Strood and Rochester, and the Southeastern service from Tonbridge along the Medway valley line calls at Strood.

The Strood station is about a ten-minute walk from the Bridge Chamber. Cross the station car park and follow the entrance road to Canal Road. Turn right and continue along Canal Road, passing under the railway viaduct to the junction with the A2. Cross Rochester Bridge on the downstream pavement of the new bridge, or cross over the A2 at the pedestrian crossing and use the upstream pavement on the old bridge. At the eastern end of the bridge turn right and continue a short distance along the Esplanade. The Bridge Chamber is Number 5 on your left.

The Rochester station is about a twenty-minute walk from the Bridge Chamber down Rochester High Street. Cross the station car park and turn right onto the High Street. Cross over the junction at the bottom of Star Hill and continue down the High Street until you reach Rochester Bridge. Turn left at the Crown Inn and continue a short distance along the Esplanade. The Bridge Chamber is Number 5 on your left.
