BROWSE THE CATALOGUE

Records of the Wardens and Assistants of Rochester Bridge in the County of Kent have been divided primarily into five groups: administrative records including minute books from 1663 and election registers from 1576; bridge construction and maintenance records including plans, contracts, specifications, engineer's reports, and sounding charts from the early 16th century; estate records including title deeds, leases, surveyor's reports, and estate maps from the 14th century; financial records including wardens' accounts from 1390 and bills and receipts from 1677; and tunnel construction and maintenance records from 1987. A small group of transcripts of some of the medieval and early modern records and a final miscellaneous group of records unrelated to Rochester Bridge, including a small collection of 19th-century railway prospectuses, complete the classification.
