COMPLETION OF OLD BRIDGE REPAIRS

The Rochester Bridge Trust is pleased to announce that the recent repair work to the Grade II listed Old Bridge at Rochester has been completed.

Over the past few weeks damage caused by road traffic collisions and vandalism has been repaired. The work included replacing a granite block and carrying out significant repairs to one of the porticos, replacement of guardrail, and stabilisation of part of the stone parapet rail.

At the same time a faulty power cable was replaced, restoring the electricity supply to two lamp columns.

All the work was funded by the Trust from its own reserves, supplemented by sums from insurers with respect to the accident damage.

2. The Trust’s assets all derive from endowments of land and money in the 14th and 15th centuries and are carefully managed in order to provide an income to fund bridge maintenance and local charitable grants. The Trust receives no external funding and is regulated by the Charity Commission.
